Memorial United Methodist Church
MUMC is one of 50 UM churches in the Norfolk District of the
Virginia Conference. There are a total of 18 districts in the
Virginia Conference which is part of the Southeastern Jurisdiction of
the United States. Our Pastor, Rev. John Cole, was appointed to
our congregation by the Bishop in 2001. MUMC is enjoying spiritual
growth under the leadership of Rev. Cole. The Lay Leader of our
congregation is Annie Lu Guertin. Typically, each congregation of
the UMC is a "charge" although there can be several smaller
congregations within a charge. Thus, our church has a Charge
Conference every October with the District Superintendent and the
District Lay Leader to give an account of the spiritual and physical
status of the church.
The laity of our church participate in committees which oversee the
spiritual and physical development of our church throughout the
year. The Admistrative Council meets monthly and hears a report from
each committee chairperson. The Memorial congregation is as a family
who love and care for each other. We welcome you to visit or
revisit us soon and be a part of this church family!
